Runner’s high.
I signed up for Bay to Breakers a few months ago in hopes that it would get me running. Considering I paid 50 odd dollars to do something I up until now, really really hated doing (I distinctly remember my tennis coaches giving me crap for never wanting to run), I wasn’t about to walk those 7 and a half miles.
So, since then, I’ve been running a few times a week and have run 22 and a half miles since mid-February when I started tracking it with my runtastic app. Now let’s be clear, if that sounds like very little, to put it in perspective, that’s probably more miles than I ran in all of last year—let alone in 3 months. If it sounds like a lot, it’s not even a marathon’s worth of miles.
In any case, I’m glad I started running!
I went to Road Runner Sports to get fitted with their Shoe Dog thing since I started to get really bad pains in my knees and back. Figured out it was ITBS after some research, so I was excited to see if a new pair of shoes would hopefully solve it. I ended up with the pair above—Brooks Adrenaline GTS 11. They feel like heaven! And my knee pain has subsided.. significantly, but it’s not all gone yet. Bad news considering the run is on Sunday. We’ll see how it goes!
