What an accomplishment!

Today, I did something really silly.

As I walked up to my car this evening around 7pm at the Fremont BART, I dug my hand in my purse and as I ran through the millions of images my brain takes on a daily basis, I didn’t recall one of me putting my keys into my purse that morning.

Rewind 12 hours:

My dad asked me to drop some loan applications at Fremont Bank on my way to the BART in the morning. I hadn’t allotted time for it, and I cut it pretty close every morning to catch the train, so I sped over to the bank in the morning, dropped of the papers and sped over to the BART. Knowing I’d barely make it, I quickly found a parking spot and ran to the station just throwing my phone, keys, lunch in my laptop bag and hopped on a train to San Francisco.

I rarely bring my laptop bag to/from work, so when I left work today, I didn’t take it with me.

Then there I was, walking to my car, dreading getting home and needing to workout. And of course, I realize I didn’t have my car keys.

With any other typical hiccup after work, I’d be screaming every expletive in the book, throwing a fit, and in the end bawling in tears. But for some reason I remained unbelievably, remarkably calm.

Sorting out this situation versus other similar scenarios, I realized it could be one of two things: 1) I really didn’t have anyone else to get angry at but myself for being an idiot—not BART, not work, not the person who decides to stand on the left side of the escalator—just me for being incredibly absentminded, or 2) I just really didn’t want to work out today and was thankful for the excuse.

Whatever the reason, it was quite an accomplishment on my part. Next obstacle: road rage!

And I did get home eventually. And tomorrow I’ll be hitting the gym. Thanks Dallis for bringing me my keys!

Some random thoughts

Some things that’ve gone through my head in the last half hour or so:

  • It really needs to rain. The last time I felt really happy to be outside, it was raining.
  • It really needs to rain so I can go to the snow.
  • I really hate BART.
  • I really need to move.
  • I hate health insurance companies (in particular, Anthem Blue Cross); what do I get for finally picking my (relatively healthy, mind you) ass up to go to get a check up? A $600 bill.
  • I am thankful for Sweden for providing the following:
  1. Swedish Gingersnaps (in particular, these)
  2. IKEA
  3. The Millennium Series
  • I should play that GIF of the bunny (previous post) over again.

There’s a man who just got on the Bart train that is so tall he has to duck.

Dear woman I ran into today at the Montgomery BART station,

Sorry I ran into you. I heard you shriek after it happened, but I had tunnel vision as I sprinted down the escalator towards the train doors. And after running into you and seeing the doors close 10 inches from me right before my eyes, all I could do was curse at who knows what for the next 5 minutes. So, sorry about that. Instant karma though that I did miss my train and had to wait another 20 minutes for the next after my longest day at work yet. I won’t do it next time.

Regards,

Tammy

On a typical day (at 7:30am) that I drive to and park at BART, I park at a space around 700. 900 if it’s a Friday when less people go to work (higher the number, closer it is to the station). Today, I parked between 175-250…

Did I mention the Giant’s parade was today?
